18-08-2009

Summary:
With its rust-coloured earth, outstretched plains variety of cacti  the Hato Plains strongly resemble a desert area, hence the nickname "Mini desert of Curaçao". The hilltops give a breathtaking view of the plains and rough north coast.  There are at least eight caves in the plains most of them are worh the vist. Visitors are dissuaded from entering the Kueba di Jechi and Kueba Raton because of the risk of disturbing the rare population of bats that breed in the caves.

Tip: It is recommended to visit the plains by Jeep or a 4-WD.
